International Women's Day 2019

In honour of International Women’s Day, let’s take a look at the women who make up 2/5 of Glowworm Digital:

Glowworm’s MD and founder, Sophie Tonge has worked in paid search for over 8 years both client side and within some on Manchester’s top digital agencies. Sophie made a name for herself in Manchester for her freelancing PPC services until it reached a point that her services were so in demand, she knew it was time to expand; then Glowworm Digital was born. Incredibly, Sophie was only in her early 20s when she started the business that just keeps on growing.

Statistics show that women hold as little as 15% of roles in the upper end of the career ladder; in Manchester, we are doing better than the UK average. In a world where female entrepreneurs have been reported to typically start business with half as much capital as men, it is refreshing and incredible to see a business founded by a woman really flourish.

Rachel has worked in paid search for over 7 years and has worked for some of the top marketing agencies in the North West.

Rachel started her career in paid search learning from scratch on the job, being trained up on how to build PPC campaigns for the customer facing PPC managers. She then worked her way up through account management to becoming a senior member of staff within the department, then on to managing an entire PPC team.

Rachel joined Glowworm in 2018 as the fifth member of a team senior PPC consultants managing campaigns for a wide range of businesses and digital marketing agencies.

Rachel is a mum of one and is an advocate for flexible working, and to also show you can be a working parent whilst also still having a healthy family life.

Even though today is about celebrating women, everyone here at Glowworm are extremely proud to support each other every single day.
